Today I did my first 3 activity's for the summer learning journey.

Gratitude

This week we have been learning about gratitude and what we should be grateful for. The easy part was knowing what the task was and knowing what I had to do. The hard part was trying to pick which 5 things I wanted to write about.

End of year review

End of year review
Today we had to make a movie about what happened this year. I learnt how to scan photo's to use in my movie. The easy part was knowing what I had to do. The hard part was picking photo's

When I grow up

Today we had to create a D.L.O on what we want to be when we are older. The easy part was finding photo's. The hard part was knowing what I wanted to be.

How to make a little Christmas tree decoration

How to make a Christmas tree

    Materials:

• 3 cupcake cups
• Popsicle stick
• Glue stick

    Method:

1. Grab one of your cupcake cups and fold in half
2. Pinch the corner and fold it in and flatten it
3. Repeat with other 
4. Take hold of your glue stick and place some glue on the inside of your cupcake cups
5. Take your glue stick and place some on your popsicle stick
6. Take one of your cupcake cups and place it on the popsicle sticks just a little bit above the bottom of the stick.
7. Repeat by placing each on a little higher each time
8. You're finished 

Athletics Day

Yesterday we had our school athletics the part I liked was discus. The easy part was the sack race the hard part shot put because the balls were very hard to throw. My next step is to learn how to do high jump properly.  I was learning to do high jump.

Floating and sinking 2

This morning we had to go to the pool to go reflect on our boat project. We used a students boat and filled it with water and went to the pool to see if it would float and most of the class knew it was not going to float.

Today Georgia came in. She works for the summer learning journey holiday blogging thing and she gave use two activity's and we had to pick one the activity I picked is called paying it forward.

Floating and sinking

For the last week we have been building boats for our floating and sinking project. The easy part was knowing what materials I was going to use. The hard part was putting my boat together.

Assembly

Two weeks ago we had our class assembly. My favourite part was when it finished. My least favourite bit was all the video's I was in. Next time I will try to be in more than 3 video's

Kapa haka

On the weekend our Kapa haka group went to Maranga Mai E Te iwi regionals. It was so fun and the best part was we came 3rd and now we are going to nationals I am so excited.

1.It was a sunny afternoon and I was getting ready to leave for my cousins birthday because she turned 11. After I went to holiday program I had to come by to her house to collect a dress to were to dinner.

2. Once I finished getting ready I waited for them to come pick me up from my house. On the way there we stopped in Kawakawa to pick up one of her other friend. After that we left to go to Paihia.

3. Finally we got to Jimmy jacks and waited for our menu's so we could pick what we wanted. After we picked our food and refreshments we waited and did our activity's on our kids menu's. Once our food was ready we happily ate our food.

Term 3 holiday blogging

Today I finished my term 3 holiday activity. The easy part was finding which order I was going to do them in. The hard part was building a raft.

Decimals

Today we were learning to times decimals. The hard part was finding the right answer. The easy part was asking a friend for help. My next step is to learn how to times decimals fluently .

Fun run

Last week we caught the train to the United Kawakawa rugby club for the fun run. When it was my race I was nervous  and felt like I had butterfly's but it was good at the end because I came 2nd. After my race I helped With the colour I got to throw coloured powder at the year 7-8's. At the end we did a chant off and Waiomio and Taumarere where fighting but everyone new that Waiomio won.

Red hot racers

This week we had to read this book called red hot racers it was about making a class in tech making  mine dragsters.The hard part was the activity exploring language. The easy part was my other activity did I understand. 

Designed for good reflation

Last week we had to read this article called designed for good. The hard part was finding the answer of some of the questions the teachers asked me. The easy part was reading the book and helping other people in my group who had hard words.

Project island song

Next week on Friday 40 students in my class and the class next door are going to project so this week we had to find information about the island so together Mahuta and I have made a D.L.O. The easy part was asking questions that we will get to answer on the island . The hard part was finding how the island was pest free.

The Deca tree

This week in math we had to solve how much leaves are on the tree. The easy part was working with others because I get to here there thinking. The hard part was finding the amount of leaves when I did not get the meaning of the problem. 

Awa History K&W

This term we are learning about the awa history and I made a D.L.O on what I know and what I want to know. The easy part was asking question on what I want to know. The hard part was trying to find the answer to some of the questions I asked.

This week we have been learning about Roman numerals the easy part was knowing that you can use the same letter three times was the hard part was finding the answer at the start because I didn't know what it was.

Last week we had to write a report on an animal that we did not know that much about so I did whale sharks. The easy part was gathering ideas the hard part was putting my sentences into paragraphs.

This week we have been learning about factors and multiples the easy part was dividing and multiplying to get the product the hard part was getting every answer for 120. My next step is to learn all my 12 times tables.

Through the holidays my principal will be going to America and is giving us challenge's to do and she will bring back prizes. 

Matariki Activity's

For the past two days through out the school we have been doing Matariki activity's. My activity was a gardening. On Monday we had to get our garden ready for the winter so we were harvesting the crops and pulling out all the weds. On Tuesday we made soup and built little Pataka out of sticks and flax because on Friday we are going to present a slide in front of the school showing them what we have been learning.

Beat Plastic Pollution

Last Thursday we were doing an activity called Beat Plastic Pollution it is about how we can save the ocean from pollution we put our information onto a D.L.O ( Digital learning object). The hard part was finishing all ten activity's the easy part was getting information.

This week we are doing highest and lowest numbers using 4 number but we could only use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. We could use +, -, x and ÷.

This week I am learning to problem solve I can use vocab, teamwork,exploring and using talk moves. I need to work on looking for patterns and using a systemic table to organise my thinking.

This week we are still learning to read for meaning and I think I am getting better and better at it I can understand what I am reading and it is very helpful.

Pangarau reflection

This week we were trying to make 37 with 10  numbers 1, 3, 5 and 7 and we found it was impossible because odd + odd = Even so then the teacher let us use 11 or 9 numbers and we found out it was possible. Here are my scores for how I went. 

• The easy part was using 9 numbers
• The hard part was using 11 or 10 numbers
• Next step is 12 timetables and division 

Reading reflection

This week I was learning to read for meaning we read this book about the secret life of estuaries it was about where the streams and the ocean meet. 

• The hard part was finding out how the estuaries work
• The easy part was understanding the text

Maths reflection post

Today I am doing my Math Reflection post on math eyes math eyes is a strategy we have been learning about. The easy part is finding the angels and the perimeter of the picture the hard part is converting my words into questions. Next time I am going to learn about percentages and how to use them in math equations.

   

Writing reflection post

For the past two weeks we have been learning about metaphors about our class being a 

tree, car, sandwich, a building or a peace of clothing. The hard part translating the sentence into Maori. The easy part was picking a topic to write about and next time I am going to try harder and put more effort into my metaphor.

Reading reflection post

Today I am doing my reading reflection post. A reflection post is something we use so we can mark our work with the given subject. I am learning to read for longer periods of time. The easy part is Reading the book the hard part is doing the activity that our teacher gives use.

Next time I have to remember to put my information and ideas help my audience to understand the learning.
